Philippines Humanitarian Announces New Additions to Its Board of Directors and Advisory Board

Salt Lake City, Utah, October 7, 2023 — Salt Lake City-based nonprofit, Philippines Humanitarian, is pleased to welcome Vanessa Pierce and Anita Bombita Parsons as the newest members of its governing body.

Board Chair, Erni Hernandez Armstrong, said Pierce and Parsons bring new skills and perspectives to the Board of Directors, which will further the organization’s mission to give impoverished students in the Philippines the resources they need to complete their educations and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Pierce, who is currently the General Counsel and Vice President of Legal for New U Life Corp, has an extensive background in intellectual property law, as well as in issues related to international trade and the legal aspects of the internet and computing. A Utah native, Pierce has been involved with Philippines Humanitarian for the past year as a participant in the organization’s Student Sponsorship Program. As a member of the Board of Directors, Pierce looks forward to being a part of the organization’s efforts to increase their impact in the Philippines.

Born in Metro Manilla in the Philippines, Parsons is the co-founder of Utah-based Tycon Systems, which designs and manufactures turnkey remote power systems that use solar and wind power. A long-time donor and supporter of Philippines Humanitarian, Parsons is excited to increase her involvement in the organization and its work to help destitute children in the country in which she was born and raised. Parsons joins the organization’s Advisory Board.

Armstrong welcomed the two, noting that both Pierce and Parsons have a strong commitment to Philippines Humanitarian’s mission and the organization’s long-term success. “With Vanessa’s legal background and Anita’s personal connections with the communities we serve, we are in a better position to thoughtfully and strategically increase our impact, while continuing to ensure that our nonprofit is here as long as we’re needed,” she said
