Amelia S. Hernandez College Scholarship

Obtaining a college degree is the most effective way to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty, and our ASH College Scholarship Program makes it possible for more students to achieve this milestone. Named after our founder, this program provides one-year college scholarships of $400 to impoverished students who live in the areas we serve, and who have outstanding academic performance, a good command of the English language, and a commitment to pay it forward.

While tuition in the Philippines is currently free at public universities and colleges, ASH scholars and their families are not able to afford the extra costs associated with higher education. Our scholarship is enough to pay for the recipient’s transportation to and from school, class fees, text books, and other needed school supplies, thus allowing them and their families to fully commit to their studies.

Scholarship applicants are initially vetted by our NGO partner in the Philippines. Students then submit their applications, grades, and family profiles, which are then reviewed by our Board of Directors. Scholarships are granted every June.

For the 2024-2025 school year, Philippines Humanitarian awarded 34 ASH scholarships. 27 students received full scholarships of $400 and 7 other students received partial scholarships. Our 34 ASH scholars join 72 other college students who are part of our Student Sponsorship Program. We are so proud of the 106 students who are working towards their college degrees with the help of Philippines Humanitarian and our generous sponsors and donors.

Congratulations to the ASH Scholarship Winners for the 2024-25 School Year!
