Graduate Stories

It is gratifying to see the impact our sponsorship program has made in the lives of our children and their families. We’ve supported their efforts through the years and we are so proud of those students who’ve made it all way through college graduation and received a college diploma to help them build a better future. Here are some of their stories.

Alexander C.

Summary:
Alexander became a sponsored student of Philippines Humanitarian when he was in the 3rd grade. Throughout his schooling, he studied hard and strived to get good grades. With Alexander’s determination, and the help of his sponsor, he was able to graduate at the top of his class.

Results:
With his family facing financial hardships, Philippines Humanitarian stepped in and helped Alexander attend college where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Always setting high goals for himself, he was recognized for his efforts and received an Academic Excellence Award. Alexander was hired as a Project Engineer for an Engineering Company, where he still currently works.

In his words:
“Philippines Humanitarian and KM Foundation mean a lot to me. More than giving educational needs, they mold children and guide them to a brighter future.”

Divine Grace C.

Summary:
Divine Grace C. became a sponsored student of Philippines Humanitarian when she was in the 1st grade. As a young girl, she loved learning. With the help of her sponsor and her passion for learning, Divine Grace was able to get a degree in Education from a university in Quezon City.

Results:
Divine Grace graduated college with honors (Cum Laude). She is currently working at a non-profit organization whose mission is to help educate the poorest of the poor.

In her words:
“As a professional educator, I hope I can also be an instrument of change for the future. Being a scholar of Philippines Humanitarian and KM Foundation has taught me that–and so much more.”

Jefson P.

Summary:
Jefson’s father passed away when he was in elementary school, and his mother died soon after he graduated from high school. Without any financial support even for his most basic needs, Jefson was unable to continue his education. Recognizing his potential, KM Foundation stepped in to support his goal to get a college education.

Results:
Jefson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and a major in Marketing. Today, he is working as a training coach at the largest oil refining and marketing company in the Philippines, supplying more than a third of the country’s oil requirements.

In his words:
“I thank God who gave me this precious and challenging life, as well as the courage to face every obstacle, and I thank KM Foundation for giving me the opportunity to change my destiny. To all the staff of KM Foundation and Philippines Humanitarian, thank you so much!”

Sarah P.

Summary:
Sarah and her five siblings were born into a life of poverty. Abandoned by their father when Sarah was seven years old, her mother raised her and her siblings as a single parent in Payatas. Unable to provide for their most basic needs, her mother asked relatives to take in some of Sarah’s siblings. This was when KM Foundation also lent a helping hand by finding a sponsor to enable Sarah to continue her education

Results:
With financial help from her sponsor, Sarah completed her college degree, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management. She is now employed as an Accounting Assistant at the biggest bank in the Philippines.

In her words:
“The Foundation has taught me to dream big, despite our poverty. I can do more and be more. I can proudly say that all the things I have now is from the help of good-hearted people who trusted and believed in me. Thank you is not enough to express my gratitude.”

It has been a tough couple of years for our college students because of the pandemic, but they persevered and went the distance to get their college degrees. We are so proud of them for their tenacity to improve themselves and build a better future. Way to go, Class of 2022!
